[ so, people skills is not thomas's strong suit. he actually has no idea how he has friends, and he's pretty sure minho and newt would back him up on that being a miracle. okay but this kid is apparently pretty hostile, so... he should probably tread carefully? probably.
Hello. My name's Minato. I'm Ken's legal guardian while he's here, and after what happened last week, I thought I should meet all of his housemates. Sometimes I stop in to drop off groceries, too.
[Upon hearing Tetsuo had all but ran away from home, Peter couldn't help but take this as an opportunity to pull the boy further into his clutches. Peter like he does, appeared before Tetsuo when he was alone and offered him the invitation to live at his camp.
Well, it goes as great as Peter expects.
They're here together and Peter can continue to pour his poison in Tetsuo's mind. He doubts it'll last forever, Tetsuo's housemates seem like the meddlesome type, but, it'll work in Peter's favour.
There's a roaring bond fire below and a tree house up high and Peter all but calls to Tetsuo wherever he may be in camp.]
Well, are you going to come join me for dinner or sit about?
Look, we either need to shoehorn an excuse to stick this fucking eldritch horror in the haunted house or I need the number of a Satanist art gallery, because I can't keep moving it all around the house for much longer. I think it's freaking my plants out.
Think it's about time you an' me have a little talk. See, I heard 'bout what you did at that Swear In to everyone with that weird gas of yours. An' I heard 'bout what you did to my son.
They mighta arrested you by now. They mighta taken your powers an' locked you up. But as soon as you get out, yer gonna wish you were right back in that prison. Nobody messes with my family and lives.
[early in the morning, way before any sane person would be awake, a package is dropped off on the stoop of Nonah 5 to be brought in by whoever comes out to get the mail. there's no address or sender - nothing, in fact, except for TETSUO written across the top in thick marker, the o sporting a very clever caricature of said recipient's face. whoever drew it even got the weird forehead to facial features ratio correct.
the whole thing's very weird, especially given how light the box is considering its pretty large size. and then you open it up, and shit goes from kind of weird to outright bizarre.
the box is filled with nothing but stuffed unicorns. unicornsasfarastheeyecansee.good lord. a narwhal seems to have also made its way in, which shut up she was working hard to get them all and just saw the horn alright.
the only other thing in the box is a note at the very top in handwriting which Hazel is 1000% certain no one's going to recognize. it simply says: Heard you were a big fan of these, so I thought I'd let you have them. You're welcome!!
this is possibly the best idea she's had in the past six months. Hazel fully expects to be able to hear the screaming from Heropa.]
He doesn't really know what to say about it, so he doesn't -- instead, when he decides to text Tetsuo, he sends him the challenge he promised. Partly it's because he said he would, but partly because if Tetsuo's playing games with him, he can't be off destroying Kaneda or any more city property.]
[Kaneda had gotten up early--After finding out about Eating Day (Thanksgiving), he'd been prepared to cook something for it. Something authentically Japanese because why would he make anything else in this piece of shit country--
Bull had other plans. Plans that involved a giant turkey and a fire pit. But the worst part of it was that he INSISTED on going and hunting the turkey himself. Who the hell knows how long that would take. Which left a very empty kitchen, and a very distant Kaneda. Eating day wasn't anything special to him. He ate an enormous amount of food every day, partially from his natural appetite, and partially to keep his body's durability functioning as well as it could. But his thoughts strayed.
Was Tetsuo eating today? Probably not. He had to trick him into going to that udon place. And who knows if he'd continued that trend since then.
Bull wouldn't be back for hours, probably. He wasn't very quiet--he doubts he can grab a turkey any better than he can grab a fish. So he goes to fetch Ken.
Because he's suddenly got an idea.

Vanessa McInnis was having a better day than she had been recently. Walking to work meant you could stop to smell the proverbial roses, and thus get herself in a better mood before walking in, having to deal with the wet cat that she seemed to employ. Why she kept him? Well, she certainly wasn't going to tell him to get out, but that didn't mean she had to enjoy it. She gave Tetsuo orders, and while most of the staff thought that would be the end of Vanessa McInnis, he often did what she was told. In his own little Tetsuo way.
When she arrives, a familiar red bike pulls up next to her, as if he was waiting for her to come. She knew it from the moment she saw the colour, trying to hide a smile and a roll of her eyes. What was Kaneda doing here? She didn't need any MORE trouble. And it always seemed to follow this one, it seems. Adjusting the strap on her purse, she says her hello to him, a casual wink in return. What could she possibly be doing at an arcade on Thanksgiving? Well, it wasn't necessarily open, but SOMEONE had taken up shelter there, and she had to check on him as long as the doors were unlocked. Vanessa McInnis deserves a vacation, for the record.
Some small talk is made; some jokes are exchanged, and Kaneda presents her with a bag. No note or identifier, but with a simple request.
"Give this to Tetsuo, will ya?"
He knew she would. He knew Vanessa McInnis by now. They'd become acquaintances by circumstance. By Tetsuo Shima. And before she knows it, he's stepping back on his bike, giving her a soft salute before burning rubber. Before she can even get a final word in. Kaneda! You ALWAYS do this!
...
Vanessa McInnis shouldn't have given him it. Her car had been total'd recently because of a minor argument between him and some mascot. Kaneda had promised her a date in return, but even that didn't wipe the bitter feelings resting inside her about her lost Monte Carlo. That thing had JUST gotten a new sticker put on it! A very dark part of her wanted to throw it all in the garbage, whatever it was. But Kaneda had asked her--no, trapped her into this, and while he was associated with Tetsuo and cleaning up his messes, Kaneda was genuinely charming, and they got along.
So it's with a bit of swallowed pride that she walks over to Tetsuo's 'office', eyes like daggers as she opens the door with her elbow to set the box on the 'desk'. The desk being the office breakroom table. Apparently, he'd claimed a specific table as his. A part of her wondered just how an 'assistant' acquired so much power, but did she really need to ask when her car was bent in half like a straw?
Whatever. All she has to do is drop it off and walk out. Which she does. With a glare. Because you're lucky you're friends with Kaneda, asshole.
"This came for you."
Yep. She's leaving now.
Should Tetsuo open the bag, he'll find three picnic bento boxes and a bowl with a lid on it. Onigirazu, tamagoyaki, rice with roughly cut (almost like an amateur) seaweed in the center shaped like an oddly familiar cat--egg yellow eyes and all. Honestly, you have to squint to see it. But it's recognizable. The bowl is warm to the touch, and if the lid is lifted, there's ramen there, noodles, vegetables, all of it homemade. A big piece of pork is in there, as well as an egg that was dropped right into the boiling broth. This isn't restaurant quality, but it smells like...home.
How many of your high scores at the arcade do I need to obliterate to shame you into doing something with me? Just checking so I've got a number in mind before I start.
[Minato is a little stymied about where to leave something for Tetsuo since he doesn't live at Nonah 05 anymore, but he ends up depositing it where they'd met that time in Maurtia Falls, a present wrapped in reflective royal blue paper with a silver ribbon.
It's a GameBoy Advance with old versions of the MoM equivalent of Pokemon and Zelda: A Link to the Past. (Chibimon and Zandra? Who knows.) Minato's not made of money so he can't afford a DS alongside all the other gifts he has to give this year, but he tried.
There's a short, handwritten note:
For Tetsuo.
I thought you might be getting bored.
Minato
After he leaves, he sends him a quick text.]
I left you something at the place we met in Maurtia Falls last time.
